As part of its ongoing investment in India, SCIEX, a global leader in life science analytical technologies, today announced the grand opening of a new $3 million (USD) facility in Delhi to give scientists and laboratory technicians across all of India access to the latest innovations in analytical technologies.

This state-of-the-art, scientific support centre is designed to help address some of India's biggest analytical challenges, including food safety, environmental protection, vitamin D analysis, biomedical research, testing of banned drugs of abuse, and the development of new therapeutics and generic drugs

"SCIEX continues to make significant investments in India as a strategic area of focus for us," said Rainer Blair, President of SCIEX. "We are committed to responding to and meeting the growing needs of India's research and applied analytical testing communities.  We work relentlessly every day to be a trusted partner with Indian scientists and lab managers.  Our new customer-centric facility in Gurgaon will allow us to take the lead with our customers to reshape analytical science in this amazingly forward-thinking region of the world."

SCIEX expanded in India one year ago, acquiring Labindia's mass spectrometry business in November 2011. With its growing presence locally and its dedicated global resources, SCIEX is opening new job opportunities in India's economy, attracting top talent in science and technology to provide the country's highest-rated service and support to Indian customers, who analyze compounds, contaminants and proteins in a variety of fields.

SCIEX's expansion in India is also creating new opportunities for scientific interactions, collaborations and innovation. Scientists and lab personnel in public and private sectors are expected to use the new SCIEX India Application Support and Training Centre as a destination for proof-of-concept studies, development of new workflows, extensive training and troubleshooting support in method development.

"As SCIEX develops some of the most powerful scientific technologies in the world, we will be able to better serve our customers in India through our new centre," said Umesh Pawa, Managing Director, SCIEX India.  "We see new opportunities in pharma, food safety, proteomics, metabolomics, clinical research and a variety of other applications that will be part of the new frontier of science in India for years to come."

The world's top pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, food testing laboratories, clinical research labs and governments use SCIEX technologies, which include best-in-class LC/MS/MS (liquid chromatography / tandem mass spectrometry) and TOF/TOF (time-of-flight) technologies.
