The measurement of pesticides in food can be quite challenging due to the complexity of the wide range of matrices tested. LC-MS/MS triple quadrupole mass spectrometry has been the cornerstone technique for targeted, or data directed, analysis of pesticides for the food testing industry as well as for the regulatory agencies. Here, we describe a data independent technique called MSALL SWATH® using the new X500R QTOF.
SWATH® collects MS/MS information from all pesticides in the food sample which allows for the identification of more compounds – known and unknown – by exploiting more spectral information than traditional techniques. Finally, by utilizing the powerful tools in the new SCIEX OS software, we will illustrate how easy it is to confidently identify pesticides in complex matrices.
