The Batteries Directive 2006/66/EC was transposed through the 1997 Batteries Order which was published on 11 November 2008.

Sweden has introduced a de-minimis exemption for the take-back and recycling requirements for producers placing relatveily low weights of portable batteries on the Swedish market each year. This de-minimis exemption applies to SCIEX and SCIEX has registered as a small producer of portable batteries in Sweden directly with the regulatory authorities.
