Restoring and using the script - Manually Integrate - in Analyst® software versions 1.7.2 and 1.7.3

Issue Description

The script - Manually Integrate - is missing in Analyst® software versions 1.7.2 and 1.7.3, although it was previously supported in versions 1.7 and 1.7.1. Analyst software has various peak-finding algorithms that identify and integrate peaks, but the Manually Integrate script can be useful to employ when a peak of interest is missed or only partially integrated. Scripts that are not automatically installed during the initial installation of Analyst software are usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Analyst\Scripts and can be installed manually. However, the Manually Integrate script installation folder is missing from this directory in version 1.7.2 and 1.7.3.

Installing the Script
The installation files for the Manually Integrate script can be copied from the installer folder for Analyst® 1.7 or 1.7.1. (Access to a download of the older versions of Analyst software can be provided by technical support.) Prior to adding the script files, users must exit the Analyst software (1.7.2 or 1.7.3) and stop Analyst services.

Navigate to the Manually Integrate script installation files in the installer folder, Analyst 1.7.1 Software, located in the path: Analyst171-WebRelease\Scripts\Manually Integrate. The Manually Integrate folder contains an Install folder with three files - Files.Install, Manually Integrate.dll, and Manually Integrate.exe - and the ScriptRunner.exe file. The entire Manually Integrate folder must be copied to <Drive>:\Analyst Data\Projects\API Instrument\Processing Scripts. Open the Manually Integrate folder and double click on ScriptRunner.exe to install the script. Manually Integrate should now appear as an option in the script menu in Analyst software 1.7.2 or 1.7.3.

Using the Script
To use the Manually Integrate script, users must perform the following steps in Analyst software in explorer mode:
1. With a chromatogram opened, click Script > Manually Integrate. The Manual Integration 1 dialog is shown.

2. Select Options... to modify the fields in the Result section. In the Text File Exporting section, click Select to navigate to a text file.
3. Do one of the following:

• Select Automatically export after each selection to export the results to the specified text file.
• Click Export Now to export the current results.
4. Select Remove Last Entry to remove the last exported result from the text file.
5. To populate the fields in the Result section, highlight a section of the graph. The fields are calculated using the selected area.
6.  To change the manual integration options, select Options. The Manual Integration Options dialog is shown below.

7. If required, in the Mode group, do one of the following:
• Click Add area as caption to graph, then quit to paste the area of a single selection on the graph and then exit the script.
• Click Add area as caption to graph and stay open to show the area on the graph as well as in the program.
• Click Don’t add caption to graph (and stay open) to only show the results in the program and to leave the graph unaltered.
8. Select the following as required in the Manual Integration Options screen:
• In the Display Format section, select the format for each result in the Manual Integration 1 dialog.
• Select the Show integrated area in graph check box to show the integrated area in the active chromatogram.
• Select the Force zero intensity baseline check box to force the integrated area to start from the intensity=0 baseline. In this case, the starting and ending times from the manual selection are used, but the y-positions are ignored.
• Select the Report ‘raw’ peak height check box to report the peak height as the intensity of the largest point comprising the peak. If the check box is cleared, then the usual software algorithm is used to calculate the peak height. (A parabola is fitted to the three largest data points, and the peak height is set to the y-value of the parabola’s apex).
• Select the Report centroid Retention Time check box to report the retention time using a centroid calculation. If the check box is cleared, then the usual software algorithm is used to calculate the retention time. (A parabola is fitted to the three largest data points and the retention time is set to the x-value of the parabola’s apex).
 9. To save changes and return to the Manual Integration 1 dialog, click OK.
10. On the Manual Integration 1 dialog, click Close.
