In June 2022, the US EPA announced new drinking water health advisory levels (HALs) for 4 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In particular, these new HALs required a detection limit of 4 parts per quadrillion (ppq) for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).
