Answer
Biologics Explorer software needs to be installed on a computer with both a C: and D: drive partition; however, it is also possible to install this software on a PC with just one (C: drive) partition if a patch is also installed.
To install Biologics Explorer on a PC with one partition, follow the steps below:
1. Download the Biologics Explorer installer from https://sciex.com/software-support/software-downloads. The downloaded folder contains the patch -- app.extend.properties -- that is needed to install Biologics Explorer on a PC with one partition.
2. Install the software as usual, and then select Finish when the installation is complete. Once the software is installed, an error message will appear when the software is launched if a PC with a single partition is used: "Error starting this program. Unable to create directory: "D:\Sciex\BiologicsExplorer\ver\cache\referiner_ms\15.5\temp"."
3. Copy the patch file, app.extend.properties, to the path, C:\ProgramFiles\Sciex\BiologicsExplorer\runtime\15.5\refiner_ms\etc\.
4. Open the Biologics Explorer software. The software will now prompt you for the license file.
5. Activate the software and follow the guidance in the release notes. The software opens as usual, but it uses the C:\ drive for the disk cache.
