When creating an independent data acquisition (IDA) method, a list of masses (in Da) and their retention times (RT, in min) can be imported into Analyst® TF Software. This procedure cannot be done from the method wizard. First, the Analyst Software acquisition file (.dam file) needs to be created; the inclusion or exclusion lists are created and imported later. There is an arbitrary limit (1200) on the number of masses that can be imported, and the software will only display just over 100 of the masses and RTs in the acquisition method per import once the method is saved and closed.

In the Analyst TF Software method, the Include List check box needs to be checked to import any inclusion or exclusion lists. To import a list of masses and their corresponding RTs, a .txt file without a header needs to created in Notepad with two columns, one for for the m/z mass and one for its corresponding RT. This notepad file can be imported into the inclusion or exclusion list. Please select the Import button and then browse to the txt file. After the import, the masses and RTs will show in the table.
