Answer

Echo® MS systems acquire multiple injections from the same batch to the same data file. To break down the datasets into more manageable formats, the SCIEX OS software automates the splitting of each sample injection into separate data files. The software first calculates the delay time between the sample ejection and its detection based on a series of ejections at the start and end of the run for a defined sample.

 

As shown below, the bar code pattern created by these repeat injections consists of a group of narrow and wide peaks separated by quiet spaces. The software uses this information to determine the delay time between drop ejection and detection, allowing the chromatogram to be split into individual samples.
