Answer
When setting up a concurrent license server for either Analyst® or SCIEX OS software, one of the final steps is to create and distribute the client license - the license installed on the PC where the SCIEX software is installed. The text of the client license can be edited using a text editor like Notepad. A sample client license file - Example_License.lic - is provided in the folder that contains the license server setup software. This sample license should be used as a starting point rather than creating a client license from scratch.
Follow these instructions for creating a customized client license:
1) Open the sample client license file - Example_License.lic - with Notepad. You will see the following text:
#Please Do not delete this comment line.
SERVER Server.address.Here ANY 27000
Vendor ScxMSSW0
USE_SERVER
2) Change the text "Server.address.Here" to the server name where the Flexera licensing server software was installed. The server name can be found on the System Information tab when logged into the concurrent license server and corresponds to the Host Domain Name. The server name should be the full computer name, including the domain (e.g., ServerComputerName.Domain.Net). Due to the static nature of the server name, it is recommended that the server name be used instead of the server TCP/IP address.
3) Save the license file as file type .lic. Ensure that the All Files file type selected before saving in Notepad.
4) Rename the client license file to reflect the software name that the license supports (e.g., SCIEXOS3.3.lic).
Below are examples of the text used for client licenses, where 1) the server name is used and 2) the IP address of the server is used:
Example 1
#Please Do not delete this comment line.
SERVER CO.SERV.NET ANY 27000
Vendor ScxMSSW0
USE_SERVER
Example 2
#Please Do not delete this comment line.
SERVER 168.254.0.80 ANY 27000
Vendor ScxMSSW0
USE_SERVER
To install the client license file, move it to the correct directory, as summarized below:
Software | File Location |
Analyst software and CFR | C:\ProgramData\AB SCIEX\Analyst\License |
SCIEX OS and CFR | C:\Program Files\SCIEX\SCIEX OS |
