Answer

The iTRAQ® Reagent - 8plex vials are filled and capped under an inert gas to protect the reagent from moisture. When preparing aliquots of the reagent, moisture can enter the vials and start hydrolyzing the reagent over time, which can lead to poor labeling efficiency.

After opening the 25 or 50 unit vials of iTRAQ reagent, aliquot the appropriate volume needed to label samples into single-use vials and store them under inert gas at -20 °C or colder (refer to the certificate of analysis).
