Issue Description

After Windows updates are installed, 32 Karat software fails to open correctly and displays an "Unable to create a required Enterprise folder" error message.

Possible causes:

The error is generated by “CSMainApp::UpgradeEnterpriseFolder” when the program attempts to access the incorrect directory path where the Enterprise SW is installed, which is stored in the registry, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ChromatographySystem\C:/32Karat" with value "ChromDir", which should be "C:\32Karat".

Resolution

The folder “C:/32Karat”, which is referred to as the registry key, must be edited.

1. Reboot the system to ensure that the 32 Karat software and other background processes are not running.

2. Click the magnifying glass icon on the Windows taskbar, then entering “regedeit” in the Windows search bar to locate the Registry Editor.

Open registry editor

3. Open the Registry Editor, navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ChromatographySystem and delete the C:/32Karat key.
