Answer

When ordering nucleic acid primers for use in either DNA sequencing or fragment analysis using the GenomeLab™ GeXP Genetic Analysis System or older CEQ genetic analyzers, be sure to select primers thatat the minimum have been purified via solid phase extraction. De-salted primers will not work well for sequencing, but they can be used for fragment analysis. Further purification techniques, such as reversed-phase or anion-exchange HPLC or even higher PAGE gel purification, can also be used but are only necessary if the primer is highly specific to its binding site on the template.
