Answer
To electronically reset a SCIEX 7500 system, follow these steps:
1) Deactivate the hardware profile in SCIEX OS software.
2) Stop the Clearcore2 and LibraryView services.
3) Remove the source/probe. Simply power-cycling the instrument may not be sufficient to reset the instrument.
4) Find the red reset button (number 3) and switch it off for 5 s. Then switch the red reset button back on (see image below from the SCIEX 7500 System User Guide).
5) Wait till all lights on the instrument are solid green before starting up the software.
Alternatively, step 3 can be skipped; simply power-cycle the instrument using the power switch button number 5.
1) Switch the power switch button off.
2) Unplug the power cable for 5 sec and then plug it back in.
3) Turn main power switch back on.
4) Wait till all lights on the instrument are solid green before starting up the software.
These instructions are different from the reset procedure described in the user guide for the 7500 System, but this power cycle protocol has been recommended by engineers specifically for the 7500 system.
