SCIEX software hotfixes are released for new features and fix issues or software bugs and are installed after the base software is installed. If the hotfix is installed on an acquisition PC for an instrument that the hotfix was not designed for, there are no negative effects on the instruments or software. For example, Analyst® software 1.7.2 hotfix2 addresses an issue with the instrument control board (ICB) freezing issue on Triple Quad™ Systems; there is no negative effects if this patch is installed on a QTRAP® System.
