Answer

Changing the ITC parameter in Analyst® TF Software helps to assess if the QJet® ion guide on a Triple TOF® system needs to be cleaned. This article explains how to access the ITC parameter from the Analyst software. (Images are of Analyst TF 1.7.1 Software on a computer with a Windows 10 operating system installed.)

Step 1: Activate a hardware profile.

Step 2: While the Configure mode is still active, go to Tools and then Settings and select Parameter Settings.

Step 3: Select the proper scan type (generally TOF-MS +) and then double click on the ITC parameter to open it up. It is recommended to take a screen shot of the current settings and save them for future reference. These settings will need to be returned to their original configuration later.

Step 4: Enter the value you wish to test and hit enter. (In this example, 0 is changed to 1.)

Alternate Step 4: Change this parameter form a Fixed parameter to an Operator parameter by selecting Operator on the screen below.

The Parameter Settings Editor screen would appear as follows:

Now, when a new method is built, the ITC is available in the Parameters section of your method.

Step 5: When the testing is complete, it is very important to change the parameter settings back to the default for your instrument. In particular, the ITC parameter needs to be set back to the original settings found in Step 3. The ITC should be to be set to 0 for general use to allow Analyst TF to automatically adjust this parameter as needed.
