When DiscoveryQuant™ software was installed on Windows 7, the SQL database associated with the software was using a UDL file that had a username but no password; this was the cause of the error.
To resolve the error, a second user account on the SQL server was created with a password enabled. Using the new account and password allowed for a successful connection with DiscoveryQuant software. It is recommended not to use SQL user accounts without a password enabled on Windows 10.
