Issue DescriptionÂ
By default the installation of Analyst software adds 2 user accounts into the Analyst security Database. These two accounts are:
<LOCAL COMPUTERNAME>\Administrator
<USER WHO INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE>
In this example the computer name is WA-65QT-001 and the administrator user has been added by default. The user who has installed the software is a local user called support – this could however also be a domain user if they had permission to install the software. At this point only these two users can access the software. In order to enable other users either the administrator or the installing user must add their accounts to the Security Configuration. The Security Configuration is also set according to the computer NETBIOS name, therefore joining computers to domains often causes this problem as the computername is appended with the domain name.
 Resolution
Case 1: Username not added to Security Configuration
1.Log into Windows with either the <LOCAL COMPUTERNAME>\Administrator Account or the Account which was used to install Analyst.
2.Once Analyst has opened on the left hand side in the configure section double click Security Configuration
3.In the Security Configuration window, select the People tab
4.Click New Person
5.Using the standard windows AD object selection select the user who was unable to log into the system and add them as an analyst user by clicking OK
6.Once the User appears in the left hand listbox select the user by clicking them. Assign the user an Analyst Role – Administrator role gives complete access to the Analyst software
7.Click Apply, and then OK. Analyst will tell you that the security configuration will be applied once analyst is restarted.
8.Log Off windows and log back on with the User whom you have just added to the security configuration. This user should now be able to open Analyst Software.
9.Repeat steps 4 – 6 for each user who needs access to the software – Active Directory groups can also be used to simplify this.
Case 2: The ComputerName has been changed
It is not possible to re-enter the software whilst the computername remains changed. The options are:
RUO-MKT-18-2716
