Unhandled exception has occurred Waters Acquity Method Editor v1.4 & 1.5

Issue Description 

When saving or opening a method with the Waters Acquity Method Editor an unhandled exception occurs ‘System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object’

 Resolution

1. From the Start button, type 'regedit' into Search Program and Files. Click on the found program, 'regedit.exe' or press Enter.

2. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.
3. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, expand the SOFTWARE folder.

4. In SOFTWARE, expand the Microsoft folder.

5. In Microsoft, expand the Windows NT folder.

6. In Windows NT, expand the CurrentVersion folder.

7. In CurrentVersion, open the Winlogon folder.

8. In the Edit pull-down menu, select New...String Value. 'New Value #1' will appear at

the bottom of the list of Winlogon folder contents.

9. Type 'DefaultDomainName' to replace 'New Value #1' (highlighted). 'REG SZ' will appear as the type. Leave the value (the Data column) empty.

10. Exit the registry editor.
