Layouts preserve the format and design of the Analytics workspace in SCIEX OS software. The Analytics workspace is customizable, and results table columns and panes can be organized according to the user's preference. Instead of reconfiguring the layout each time a new results table is created, users can save a layout to maintain the results table formatting for specific projects. Once saved, the layout can be set as the default, ensuring that a particular workspace is permanent and any new results table retains the features of previous results tables in that project.

To save an open results table layout, navigate to the Views dropdown in the Analytics module and select "Save current layout...". The layout is saved as a .qlayout file in the Quantitation Results subproject alongside the results table files.

In the same menu, the current layout can be set as the project's default layout, ensuring that any new results table created under the specified project will be formatted identically to previous tables. Select "Set current layout as project default," and the layout will become the default for that project.

If necessary, the layout can be applied to other projects by selecting "Apply different layout to current results..." when a results table is open in a project other than the one where the layout was created.

To ensure that a particular layout is always applied to a new project, users must change the project's default settings. Navigate to the Projects menu and select "Project default settings..." in the dropdown menu. Locate and click on the Workspace Layout tab on the left, and then browse to the desired layout file that will be applied to any new results table in the current default project.

Many features in the Analytics workspace are customizable and can be specified in a layout, including the following:

  • Results table display settings, including column display order and visibility, as well as number format and precision
  • Peak review display settings, including chromatogram views (XIC and XIC+MS side-by-side), as well as the configuration of columns and rows for displaying chromatograms
  • Calibration curve display settings, such as whether the curve and the legend appear
  • Column filter settings
  • Position of the panes for peak review and calibration curve, whether the pane is relocated or undocked.
