It has come to our attention that there are one or more third parties claiming to have developed solutions to alter the Varian TV-801 turbo pumps and suggesting that these solutions mitigate the risk leading to the field action. Agilent is developing an appropriate corrective action for its Varian TV-801 turbo pumps. To our knowledge, no third party has access to the required information to develop or validate a solution. For the safety of our customers, and due to the risk of serious injury or death if metal fragments are ejected from the pump at high speeds, SCIEX continues to follow the recommendation it received from Agilent, and included in its field action. In particular, customers should shut down and not use affected instruments until the issue is addressed with a properly validated solution.
