Sustainability policy
SCIEX is a proud Danaher operating company and we align with Danaher’s Sustainability Policy and other related policies (Resources & Downloads | Danaher). We also support Danaher’s sustainability goals, including:
- Committed SBTi to reach net-zero value chain emissions by no later than 2050 as a long-term target
- Reducing Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions on an absolute basis by 50.4% by 2032 compared to 2021.

Greenhouse gas emissions
Scope 1 emissions
- Since 2020, SCIEX has steadily reduced energy consumption at our research and development site in Canada and our manufacturing plant in Singapore by transitioning to LED lights and replacing existing HVAC that use natural gas with electrical HVAC units. This would bring about approximately 169MTCO2e of GHG emission reduction when all HVAC units are replaced by 2028.
- Additionally, we are progressively replacing our existing ICE vehicle fleet in EMEA and US/CAN region with EV and hybrid vehicles.
Scope 2 emissions
- Our sites in Darmstadt, Nieuwerkerk and Beijing are 100% using renewable energy.
- Our Marsiling site in Singapore has successfully completed 2 phases of ACMV replacement in 2023 and 2024 which delivers a GHG reduction of approximately 261MTCO2e.
- Our site in Redwood Shores, California recently implemented several impactful sustainability initiatives, earning the site a California Green Business certification. From reusable tableware, to replacement of high-wattage fluorescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED lighting, to switching to oxo-biodegradable trash liners, we are committed to making the changes.
Scope 3 emissions
- SCIEX works closely with Danaher to inventory our scope 3 data GHG data. We Kaizen to facilitate this and have successfully completed our first Scope 3 inventory, covering 2023 data. Another Kaizen was held in May 2025.
- We have begun our journey of calculating our Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) and will have more updates on this topic to share soon!
- Additionally, our packaging increasingly uses cardboard and other recyclable or reusable materials with minimal use of one-time fasteners, strapping and redundant containers. And our refurbishment and “service certified” programs help prolong the life of traded-in instruments, minimizing scrap.

Absolute reduction in scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions of 10.6% in 2024 against 2021 JOP.
Since 2019, SCIEX has achieved a 75% reduction in total landfill waste (including non-hazardous waste). We also diverted more recyclable materials from landfill.
To date, SCIEX has converted 14.8% of our fleet hybrid electric and 9.6% of our fleet has been converted to full electric vehicles. And as the world’s electric vehicle infrastructure expands, so will our efforts.
Our latest generation of Mass Spectrometers feature electronics componentry with a power efficiency of 90% compared to their predecessors at 75%
Circular‑economy solutions
At SCIEX, we understand that innovating future products must consider the sustainability requirements of our customers and the needs of our planet and communities. In 2023, Danaher updated the very DBS tools that govern how we develop commercial strategy, discern customer insights and define, test and launch products. Our product definition and testing tools include prompt consideration of product attributes that will address customer sustainability priorities, and our product design and launch tool updates are designed to help ensure that sustainability is embedded in the entire product realization value stream, from concept to delivery. This includes consideration of sustainability matters across the entire life cycle of the product, from manufacturing, packaging and distribution to use.
Upon manufacturing discontinuation, SCIEX remains committed to supporting all mass spectrometry systems on a global basis for a minimum of seven (7) years, providing continued access to software, reagents, consumables, maintenance and repair parts, service, and technical applications support. Refurbishment
SCIEX provides refurbished or certified pre-owned instruments. All of our pre-owned instruments undergo an extensive assessment and verification process to ensure they meet both performance specifications and our customer's expectations. Plus, each instrument comes equipped with the latest supported software and includes service and workflow support. Recycling
SCIEX also offers end‑of‑life support globally for our mass spectrometry products, enabling customers to return their instruments to one of our distribution centers for refurbishment, repair, or responsible part harvesting—helping prevent valuable equipment from entering landfills. This program is part of our broader commitment to laboratory sustainability, supporting customers in reducing waste, extending instrument lifecycles, and minimizing the environmental footprint of scientific operations. By choosing end‑of‑life pathways that keep materials in circulation, labs can advance both operational efficiency and their environmental goals.
